Penny auction site Bid-Bob.com to launch

A trio of Winston-Salem business owners are about to formally launch their new entry in the online auction arena, Bid-Bob.com.

The site will begin selling electronics, gift cards and other items Thursday in a penny auction format. Bidders will pay an "auctioneer's fee" for the right to bid on an item, and each placed bid raises the price of that item by one cent. Each new bid resets a time counting down from 10, 15 or 20 seconds, and whoever places the last bid before the timer finally hits zero will have purchased the item.

The site is being launched by Bob MacReynolds, founder of Sheridan Recruiting Services, who will serve as CEO of Bid-Bob.com. His partners are CPA Larry O'Dell, who will be the chief financial officer, and Jason Boccardi of Boccardi Wealth Management, who will be the chief operations officer. All three are from Winston-Salem.

The site includes an automatic charitable donation feature as well, with Bid-Bob promising a contribution to the winner's choice of partner nonprofits made from every qualifying auction.
