Krause Publications Announces First Collect.com Auctions

Ebay's fervent pace of increasing listing and final value fees continues to erode the profit margins of online sellers and has spawned the birth of several online auction sites, many of them specifically focused on collectibles and memorabilia. Collect.com, powered by Krause Publications, is one of the newest debutantes poised to make a splash with their inaugural series of auctions that include an impressive assortment of vintage cards and collectibles.

Highlighting the lot is a complete set of 1898-1899 National Copper Plate Portraits. According to auction director Steve Bledlow, adding this 50 card set to a collection is a one of a kind opportunity. "It's rare enough to find one or two of these Copper Plate Portraits or even a handful at auction, but this is the first time that a complete set has ever been offered."

Thusfar collectors seem to agree, as the opening bid of $25,000 has already been met. Included in the set, are portraits of Hall of Famers Honus Wagner, "Wee" Willie Keeler, Cap Anson, and Wilbert Robinson.
